About the Coalition

Who we are, why we exist, and how we work to protect public health care in Prince Edward Island.

Who We Are

A clear, community-led voice for public health care.

The PEI Health Coalition is a non-partisan coalition of Islanders and community organizations who believe health care should be publicly funded and publicly delivered.

We focus on clear public education, evidence-based policy, and practical actions that protect access and equity.

We believe health care is a fundamental human right, and that access to care should depend on need, not ability to pay.

Land Acknowledgement

The PEI Health Coalition acknowledges that the land on which we gather is the unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People of Epekwitk. We are guests on this land and are grateful for the opportunity to live and work here. We recognize that health equity is deeply connected to reconciliation.

Our Core Principles

Public Administration

We support transparent, publicly administered care that is accountable to patients and communities.

Universality & Comprehensiveness

Everyone should have access to medically necessary care, regardless of income or postal code.

Accessibility

We oppose user fees and extra billing that put financial barriers between people and care.

Public Solutions First

We prioritize strengthening public services before expanding for-profit delivery.

Leadership & Governance

The PEI Health Coalition is a non-partisan, community-based organization led by Islanders committed to protecting and strengthening public health care.

We research issues, share clear public information, and advocate for evidence-based health policy. Our work helps Islanders understand major health-system decisions and respond when the public interest is at risk.

As the coalition grows, we remain focused on transparent advocacy, practical public education, and accountable leadership rooted in community participation.
